Ralph Nelson initiated a project to raise funds to support the America's
March to Yorktown team by selling pins at presentations about the W3R®
at SAR meetings from Massachusetts to California and Michigan to Florida.
Several states societies of the SAR bought multiple pins.
The $1,890 from sales was spent as follows:
- $506 to buy 200 pins (184 sold, 16 donated to march participants)
- $ 31 to mail some pins
- $565 to help cover expenses of the march
- $780 to buy 600 patches (10 sold, 551 donated to march participants)
Of the $1,350 raised (after deductiing the cost of pins and mailing)
40% was sent to America's March to Yorktown (AMtY)
to cover march expenses and 60% was used to buy 600 patches --
most of which were given to youth who participated in marches
along the W3R® trail or in educational activities
presented by the marchers or members of the W3R® -US.
