U.S. troops and residents line Conley's Wharf to welcome the French troops.
This is located at the spot where the French troops debarked from
their transports 225 years ago on this day to go into temporary camps nearby.

temporary campsites in Providence just before the march to Yorktown.

François Gauthier, French Consul-General for New England,
thanked the W3R®-RI and companion organizations
for helping Americans understand the role of France in the American
Revolution and for the continuing strong ties between our nations.
Roseanna Gorham, chair of the W3R®-RI organization,
described the busy schedule of events for the weekend.
Dr. Patrick Conley and his wife Gail Calahan-Conley hosted the reception.
Dr. Conley spoke about the French arrival, campsites, and activities.harbor
On a boat tour of the harbor later that evening he described the history
of waterfront development in Providence over the past 225 years.
