History of the Efforts
to recognize French assistance to the United States during their War for Independence.
This history covers the time between 1926 -- the sesquicentennial
of the start of the Revolutionary War -- through 2004, when the
W3R®-US organization was incorporated,
to 2009 -- when the U.S. Congress designated the Washington-
Rochambeau Revolutionary Route as a National Historic Trail.
The National Park Service uses the acronym WARO
when referring to this specific National Historic Trail.
The W3R®-US uses the acronym WRRR to refer to the entire set of historical events related to the French Expeditionary Force coming to the U.S. in 1780-81 through its leaving the U.S. in 1783-4.
