The W3R ® -DE continues the celebration of the trail through events such as in-classroom presentations, dedications and other external activities throughout Delaware.

Professor Robert Selig, renowned Colonial American History Scholar, spoke at the Delaware Sängerbund. The German Regiment fought with General Rochambeau's French Army in support of Washington's troops in 1781. The unit was the Royal-Deux Ponts. Few realize both armies marched through Delaware en route to Yorktown and camped at Cooch’s Bridge. Wade Catts introduced the Professor. Judge Richard Cooch made a special presentation from the Rochambeau family in Paris. The event was sponsored by a consortium of Delaware Historical Groups including the W3R ® -DE, Alliance Française Delaware, Delaware Sängerbund, and Pencader Heritage Area Association. Photo Gallery

The NPS published the Delaware portion of the Washington-Rochambeau Revolutionary Route flier. Under the direction and leadership of Julia Bell, Project Manager, Planning, Facilities & Conservation Assistance, NPS, and contributions by W3R-DE Board Members, Bill Conley. Sally Miller, David Nardone, Judith Jennings with photos by and Linda Russell, the flier constitutes the first state specific publication documentaing the route throughout the First State.

Dedication of Delaware State Historical Marker Commemorating

the Site of the Mustering Out of the Delaware Continentals - November 4, 2017

The W3R ® -DE along with the support of State Representative David Bentz (D) District 18, established a State Historical Marker marking the area where the Delaware Continentals Mustered out of the Army in November of 1883 in modern day Christiana. The sign was erected in Lewden County Park down the road from historic Shannon Inn. The marker was written by David Nardone, Vice Chair W3R-DE with contributions by local historian and archeologist Wade Catts and Historical Markers Program Coordinator Kevin Barni of the Delaware Public Archives. Speakers included Mr. Barni, Mr. Nardone, State Congressman Bentz and LTC Wiley P. Blevins, current commander of the 198th Expeditionary Signal Battalion. The 198th ESB is today’s current decendant of the 1st Delaware Regiment. Photo Gallery
