A Touring the Route Most of the path traveled by the troops were along major roads and paths that, over the past two centuries, have been developed into major routes and highways. Beginning at the Robinson House on Naaman’s Road and continuing through Wilmington, Newport, Christina, Newark and on to Elkton, Maryland, visitors to the Delaware portion of the W3R ®   Route can trace their way through the route taken by Washington’s and Rochambeau’s troops in 1781.
